VINEYARD
Kick Ranch is a special vineyard located in the Fountaingrove AVA of Sonoma County, just west of Napa’s Spring Mountain District, consisting of benchland gravels and both large and minutely fractured stone polished and carved and churned over a millennium by the nearby Russian River. The cooler temperatures and silty-volcanic hillside nature of this topography is ideal for Sauvignon Blanc.
WINEMAKING
Harvested by hand in the cool of the early morning, whole clusters of Sauvignon Blanc from Kick Ranch are carefully sorted and delicately pressed. The juice is cooled for a low and slow fermentation, preserving its bright acidity and breezy aroma. Elegant body and structure are stainless tank fermented and surlies neutral oak aged for 7 months in neutral French oak.
WINEMAKER AND PHILOSOPHY
Kirk Venge follows his father's creed, "making wine in the vineyard," and his grandfather's footsteps, on the Napa Valley soils where he was born and raised.
